But fear not, we have put together a guide to help you get your grout sparkling without the hassle…
Mould and mildew stains on grout can be stubborn, but there are a few options for getting rid of them. Off the shelf sprays will probably be your first port of call, these usually contain hydrogen peroxide and can be effective. Spray it over the area, leave it to work its magic and then give it a good scrub before rinsing with warm water.
Some stains can be more stubborn and commercial cleaners don’t always do the trick, but there are other methods to really zap that mould! Try mixing up a paste with bicarbonate of soda and water and use a toothbrush to really get deep into the grouting. If you want to you can add some hydrogen peroxide into the mix, but if you’d rather stay away from using chemicals then it will work fine on its own. Not many people realise that bicarbonate of soda is an amazing household cleaning tool, so get searching in the back of your cupboards as you’re bound to find some lurking in there!
Once you’ve got rid of those stubborn grout stains, the best solution to keeping it looking fresh is always prevention! Use a daily shower spray and make sure to properly ventilate your bathroom and you should avoid any build up of mould or mildew. Again, if you want to avoid using commercial cleansers, there is a DIY solution! Make up a mix of equal parts vinegar and water and put it into a spray bottle that you keep near the shower. Use this to spray it down 3-4 times a week, or after you shower, and it should keep that grout sparking clean.
