Style Guide: How To Use Black In Your Bathroom Decor

Main Image

The traditional bathroom suite is often glossy white, bright and airy. Now admittedly, you aren’t going to want to make the space wholly black, dark and drab, but there are ways to introduce black into your bathroom to create a stylish, contemporary look. It’s all about accents and highlighting certain areas with colour. Yes, it can be done! Here are a few ideas from us…

Furnishings

There are lots of options when it comes to furnishings. You could try vanity units and cupboards in dark wood or black acrylic; contrasted with chrome fittings this is a really stylish look. You could also try introducing black panels on your bathtub/shower unit or upcycle and old wooden shelving unit with some matt black paint.

Accessories

If you don’t want to commit to black furnishings or wall decoration, why not try it out with your bathroom accessories first? Start small and then work your way up! Think toothbrush holders, soap dispensers, bath mats and towels. It’s all about adding subtle accents – just like with white, black makes other colours stand out, so make your bathroom colour scheme pop!

Grout

This is another really effective way to introduce black subtly, rather than overwhelming the room. Monochrome in the bathroom is a classic, so why not take a different approach to it and use chic black grouting on your white or cream tiles to create a really bold look.

Tiles

Decorative tiles are a fantastic way to introduce style to any bathroom. You can create mosaics, decorative borders or a complete feature wall from a wide range of sizes and styles of tile available. Bold black gloss tiles would make a really impressive feature wall, whereas smaller black tiles mixed with white or bold colours will create a standout design.
